TAMPA - National Football League Vice President of Security Milt Ahlerich had some suggestions and requirements today for fans planning to attend the Super Bowl.
Camera cases, binocular cases and camera lenses longer than 6 inches won't be allowed into Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, he said. Fans need to watch out for counterfeit tickets and need to make sure to keep their own tickets secure at all times.
For those planning to bring a bag in to see the Pittsburgh Steelers face the Arizona Cardinals, he said, the bag should fit "in the palm of your hand." For those planning to park at the stadium, he said, lots open at 9 a.m. Sunday and parking is "extremely limited."
Ahlerich, local and federal law enforcement spoke about Super Bowl security plans at a news conference this afternoon.
The law enforcement officers said they spent about two years planning for the event and expect Raymond James Stadium and the surrounding area to be safe.
There are no known threats to national security, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
"We feel that Tampa Bay is ready to host the Super Bowl from a security standpoint," Tampa Police Department Maj. John Bennett said.
