Veterans Expressway Reopens After Fire

A fire that had closed Veterans Expressway in both directions between Hutchinson and Van Dyke roads has been put out, and the roadway is now back open.
The fire was along the road's shoulder and in the median, and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office shut the expressway down for a short while, saying the conditions were too smoky for safe travel.
The fire was quickly put out, though, and the expressway reopened by about 2:30 p.m.
