PLANT CITY - Longtime Boy Scout volunteer and businessman Dean Snyder will be honored Feb. 3 at an annual fundraiser to benefit the Boy Scouts of America, Gulf Ridge Council.
The dinner, put on by Plant City Friends of Scouting, will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Trinkle Center on the Plant City campus of Hillsborough Community College, 1206 N. Park Road.
The guest speaker will be Earnest Graham, running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tickets are $75.
Snyder will be recognized as the 2009 Distinguished Citizen by the Friends of Scouting.
Snyder, the owner of Snyder Investments and Financial Services for 18 years, has a long history with Boy Scouts, serving in numerous roles and helping raise more than $250,000 for the Gulf Ridge Council.
Fred Johnson of Friends of Scouting said the money raised by the dinner will help Boys Scouts in Plant City.
"We are pleased to recognize Dean Snyder as this year's distinguished citizen," Johnson said. "Dean has been the chair of the fundraising committee during the past five years. He was a former scoutmaster and has devoted a great deal of time as a Scout leader."
