TAMPA - Police accused a Michigan man of trying to make money off a prostitute whom he asked to be in town for the Super Bowl.
Michael Anthony Jennings, 28, of Lansing, Mich., was held at the Orient Road Jail today on $7,500 bail, records show. He is charged with felony deriving proceeds from prostitution and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
He also is being held on two unrelated warrants from Miami-Dade County, jail records show.
Tampa police arrested Jennings about 10:45 p.m. Monday at the Best Western hotel, 734 S. Dale Mabry Highway, a police spokeswoman said.
According to an affidavit, Jennings gave a witness $300 to pay for a room there Monday and "directed the witness to be in Florida for the purpose of prostitution for the Super Bowl."
Police found a small amount of marijuana in Jennings' pants pocket, the affidavit states.
