A 37-year-old man suffered a fatal stab wound Thursday night outside of a Bradenton day spa, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies responded to an emergency call at Royal Relaxation, 1248 Whitfield Ave., and found William Howery in the parking lot. Howery was taken by medical helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies say Howery was carrying an infant boy—possibly his son—when he was stabbed. The baby was not hurt.
This is what happened about 6 p.m. at Royal Relaxation, according to the sheriff's office:
Howery called the spa to speak to his girlfriend who works there. A co-worker answered the phone and got into an argument with Howery. When Howery arrived at the day spa, the co-worker's husband, Carlos Viera, got into an argument with Howery.
Viera was being questioned by detectives late Thursday night in connection to the fatal stabbing. Deputies found him nearly three hours after the stabbing at a convenience store about five miles away.
Viera and Howery did not know each other before the incident.
Anyone with information on this case can call the Manatee County Sheriff's Office at (941) 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-634-TIPS.
