WASHINGTON - Here's some of what the economic stimulus bill could deliver to Florida and the Tampa Bay area, according to lawmakers and analysts:
STATE
• 329,550 jobs saved or created.
• Lower the 8.1 percent unemployment rate by 2.4 percentage points through the end of next year.
• $4.3 billion increase in direct health care money under Medicaid.
• $3.5 billion over two years in aid for state budget shortfalls.
• $1.5 billion for highways and bridges.
• $879 million increase in food stamp benefits through year 2013.
• $285 million for transit.
• $654 million for schools with large numbers of students from struggling families.
• $961 for school modernization, renovation and repair over the next two years.
• $306 million for campus renovation and repair.
• $189 million for the state Clean Water Revolving Fund.
• $30 million for the Head Start program.
• Additional $246 million this year for Supplemental Security Income.
• Money to increase Pell Grant awards to $5,550 by 2010-2011
HILLSBOROUGH
• $143 million for schools over two years for technology upgrades and school renovations.
PINELLAS
•$86.2 million increase over two years for schools.
