Thanks to the quick thinking of a pizza parlor employee, a robbery suspect was arrested Wednesday night shortly after the robbery.
The accused thief was identified by Clearwater police as Jonathan Hodges, 33, of 7507 Katherine Drive, New Port Richey.
At 10:20 p.m. Wednesday,Hodges walked into Jet's Pizza, 2045 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd., while the business was closing and at knifepoint demanded money from the four employees there, said Elizabeth Watts, spokeswoman for Clearwater's public safety departments.
Hodges got some cash and ran, but one of the employees ran after him and got a description of the getaway vehicle, Watts said. The employee relayed that information to arriving patrol officers, and they located and arrested him, Watts said. The money was recovered and returned to the store.
