NEW PORT RICHEY - Pasco County officials this afternoon will consider two companies' requests to build two cellular phone towers in east Pasco.
County Administrator John Gallagher and the Development Review Committee will hear the tower requests when they meet at 1:30 p.m. today at the West Pasco Government Center at Little Road and Citizens Drive.
One tower is proposed for 63 acres near Melrose Avenue and U.S. 98 northeast of Zephyrhills. That tower is being developed in conjunction with T-Mobile.
The other, if approved, would go on 10 acres near the intersection of Handcart Road and Perpetual Lane northwest of Zephyrhills. That tower is being developed in a deal with Verizon Wireless.
Both towers would go up on land leased from the current property owners. In both cases, the towers will go up in largely rural areas. Both towers will be single poles about 190 feet tall.
Pasco has about 125 communications towers, about two-thirds of them dedicated to cellular phone service.
