Deputies called to a Seminole mobile home park today to remove a revolver and bullets found something else - what appeared to be military ordnance.
The Bomb Squad came to the scene and determined the ordnance were a 60-millimeter mortar round and a second mortar round with a fuse in it, both of which were not live, Pinellas County sheriff's spokeswoman Cecelia Barreda said. The Bomb Squad took the ordnance from the scene.
Deputies were first called to the scene by Robert Tinley, the nephew of the mobile home owner, who was cleaning the unit in preparation for selling it when he saw the revolver and bullets, deputies say.
The ordnance was found later in a covered porch area, deputies say.
Residents near the home at 11039 100th St. N. in the Lake Seminole Resort Mobile Home Park initially were told to stay within their homes or away from the area while the ordnance was being investigated and removed.
