TAMPA - Amid all the parties, the NFL Experience events, autograph sessions and, of course, Super Bowl, there's the highly anticipated Snoop Bowl.
This year, it's Snoop Bowl VII. The football game at Gaither High School is between teams of 10- and 11-year olds.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
The real draw, however, is the coaches. The Los Angeles team is coached by popular rapper Snoop Dogg, who has done the honors for six years and raised an estimated $50,000 for charity through the game, the rapper's Web site says.
The home team, made up of Tampa Bay youths, is coached by former Tampa Bay Buccaneers fullback Mike Alstott. More than 350 youths showed up this month to try out for the 30 spots on the team.
The event will be broadcast on the Bright House Sports Network.
The West Coast team thumped an Arizona team, 33-14, at last year's Super Bowl in Glendale, Ariz.
Tickets for the event are $20 for general admission, $50 for seats in the VIP section.
Proceeds will be donated to charities such as the Children's Cancer Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay and the Mike Alstott Family Foundation.
Gaither High is at 16200 N. Dale Mabry Hightway in northwest Hillsborough County.
