The grand opening of the Tampa Bay History Center unveiled the gemstone of the downtown Channelside District. Tampa has finally become the great city publicly that it has always been privately in the eyes of all of us who live here.
Over the years there have been various and worthy public displays and presentations of local historic artifacts and exhibits reflecting all areas of our community's timeline. But the Tampa Bay History Center is, by far, the most complete, all-encompassing story of the Tampa area ever assembled.
The innovative technology in their presentations are the best I've seen anywhere. The staff was knowledgeable and courteous.
My appreciation and thanks go out to Mayor Pam Iorio, all the responsible commissioners and especially Thomas Touchton, for his 20 years of tireless efforts in making the Tampa Bay History Center a proud reality.
