Expect to huddle up with a blanket tonight and wear a jacket if you're headed to Super Bowl festivities on Sunday, meteorologists say.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Pasco and Hillsborough counties lasting tonight through about 9 a.m. Sunday, saying temperatures are expected to drop to about 30 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover or move any sensitive plants indoors and bring the pets inside.
The temperature at Tampa International Airport about 9 a.m. today was 48 degrees Fahrenheit and expected to climb to near 60.
Sunday will be mostly sunny but cool. News Channel 8 meteorologist Megan Hatton predicts temperatures in the low 60s for the Super Bowl kickoff at 6 p.m., dropping to the mid to upper 50s.
Monday morning will be in the low 50s, Hatton said, which is seasonal for this time of year.
