The Indigo Hotel in St. Petersburg, the latest in a national boutique chain of luxury hotels that place a strong focus on aesthetics and ambiance, opened this morning in time for Super Bowl guests.
The 76-room hotel has been converted from the Heritage Hotel at 234 Third Ave. N. in downtown St. Petersburg.
Developed by Tampa-based BayStar Hotel Group, which invested $3 million into renovations, the Indigo is managed by Diana Colletti, who was BayStar corporate director of sales.
The property will officially fly the Indigo flag on Feb. 27. However, it opened today with a rate of $199.95 a night, with a three-day minimum to accommodate Super Bowl and other weekend visitors.
More than 20 Indigos are in operation in the United States, Canada and Great Britain.
More than a dozen are in development, including one by BayStar that is scheduled to open in 2010 in Tampa's Channelside district.
