TAMPA - What appears to be a projectile fired from a pellet gun ricocheted off the window of a 46-year-old Valrico man driving on Martin Luther King Boulevard, west of Blakewood Drive at 11:10 a.m., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Richard Liewert was not injured, according to HCSO spokeswoman Debbie Carter. The window of his 2001 Saturn was not broken.
Liewert was driving east bound on Dr. Martin Luther Jr. Blvd. in the outside lane when he observed a man standing on the edge of the woods holding an unknown object in his hands, according to deputies.
Liewert said an object then hit his windshield and ricocheted off.
It is unknown at this time what the object was, but could possibly have been a pellet shot from a pellet gun, deputies say.
