TAMPA - A 6-year-old child playing with matches sparked a fire that substantially damaged a home this morning, investigators said.
Tampa Fire Rescue officials said the 1:47 a.m. alarm was for a fire at a home at 4504 N. 36th St. Firefighters found a single-story home engulfed in flames, they said.
The fire was put out and no one was injured. Investigators said the fire began in a bedroom, where the child was playing with matches.
Three engine companies responded to the alarm.
