WASHINGTON - Mississippi's still king of cellulite, but an ominous tide is rolling toward the Medicare doctors in neighboring Alabama: obese baby boomers.
It's time for the nation's annual obesity rankings, and, outside of fairly lean Colorado, there's little good news.
Obesity rates among adults rose in 23 states the past year and didn't decline anywhere, according to a new report from the Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Other figures from the study:
32.5
Mississippi's adult obesity rate. The state ranked No. 1 for the fifth year in a row.
24.1
Florida's rate, representing an increase of 0.8 percent from the previous report. The state ranked 39th.
3
Number of other states with adult obesity rates exceeding 30 percent: Alabama, 31.2 percent; West Virginia, 31.1 percent; and Tennessee, 30.2 percent
18.9
Colorado's rate, the lowest in the country
