Former Armwood High football player Justin Cabbagestalk was arrested Tuesday night on a felony charge of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's arrest report.
According to the arrest report, Cabbagestalk, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound offensive lineman, was released at 2:45 on Wednesday morning after posting $8,000 bail.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's spokesman J.D. Calloway said Cabbagestalk, 18, was one of four teens who broke into a house. He said the other three were juveniles.
Calloway said the four teens broke into the house through a kitchen window around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. When an alarm sounded, he said the teens ran through the front door, where they were seen by a witness.
The teens were found fleeing through the neighborhood and eventually were arrested, Calloway said.
Calloway said Cabbagestalk told officers he heard an alarm go off but had never been anywhere in the house or around it and added he "was just in the neighborhood hanging with friends."
Cabbagestalk, of 5112 Bonnedale Court in Tampa, graduated from Armwood this spring and signed a Division I scholarship with Vanderbilt University. He was named to the Class 4A all-state second team and was on the Tribune's All-Hillsborough County first-team offense.
Vanderbilt media relations director Larry Leathers said, "Coach Bobby Johnson and his staff have been told of the case and will withhold any comment until they have the full details."
Armwood coach Sean Callahan had no comment.
