TAMPA - Thursday's rain followed a deluge Wednesday that forced 15 families to leave their homes in Progress Village.

Touring the area Thursday, Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin White said many residents were fortunate the rains had let up the next day, as floodwaters had crept toward front doors. Tampa's 4.72 inches of rain Wednesday made it the sixth-wettest day on record for that date, forecasters said.
