CLEARWATER - Set prices low enough and shoppers will show up.
And show up. And show up. And show up. By the hundreds.
The Red Tag Live! sale at a vacated box store at the corner of Ulmerton Road and 49th Street North had customers lining up today for deals on everything from 42-inch high-definition televisions priced at $477.55 to countertop microwaves for $29.97.
The lines got so long, store workers had to let in customers in groups of 150 or so at a time.
Tom Dimas of Red Tag Live! travels the country manning liquidation sales for the same company that owns www.ubid.com and www.redtag.com. They buy the merchandise from manufacturers like Sony, General Electric and Sharp, and other companies that have simply gone out of business.
He expects his stock to sell out in the 10 days he'll be in Tampa.
Dimas said there is a 14-day return policy and a 1-800 number consumers can call if they have problems after the sale ends.
Some of the items are new in the box, some are open-box, some are reconditioned and refurbished. But everything comes with a warranty, Dimas said.
The sale started Thursday for invited guests and opened to the public today at 9 a.m. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday
