Manatee found dead in Tampa Bay

TAMPA - The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says deputies have discovered a dead manatee in Tampa Bay.

According to a news release, deputies with the agency's marine unit found the adult manatee floating near Port Tampa today. The deputies said the manatee appeared to have injuries that might have been caused by boat propellers.

Officials are expected to recover the manatee's body and perform a necropsy.
