Dr. T's Supergoop daily moisturizing lotion, spray and lip balm, available at www.supergoop.com class="bold">. Prices vary.

Supergoop makers say their goal is to introduce a "skincare regimen into kids' lives" before harmful UV rays take their toll. They're promoting products that can be incorporated into a child's everyday routine just like brushing their teeth.

That's likely why they designed very user-friendly products that range from pocket-sized tubes to jugs that hold nearly a half-gallon of goop.

The products have a light scent and the lotions don't sting. The lip balm is most pleasant, thanks to its peppermint flavor. The "Super Spray" moisturizer's trigger dispenses a light mist that's almost as kid-friendly as the high-priced aerosol cans popular with beachgoers, although the moisturizer still has to be rubbed into the skin.

Prices can be high when compared to supermarket brands, and they vary widely from one item to the next: A facial sunscreen stick costs just $9; a 56-ounce face and body lotion sells for $148.

The 30 SPF may not offer enough protection to satisfy some parents. But if you're determined to get your kids into a daily sunscreen routine, this may be a good solution.

UV SunSense, sunscreen monitoring wristband, $5.87 for pack of seven wristbands, available online at sites such as Amazon.com.

These light-sensitive wristbands could be a handy aid for frustrated parents whose kids don't reapply sunscreen when necessary.

The bands look and feel a lot like those wristbands you get at the fair for unlimited rides. The trick is that when you apply sunscreen to your skin, you apply the same kind and amount to the SunSense band, and when it fades from purple to a pale brownish-peach, you know it's time to reapply.

It's a great concept, and it really does work - when the instructions are followed - even when it's overcast.

The bands are light-sensitive, so you have to put it and your sunscreen on before heading outside. If you toss the bands into a bag with all your beach gear, make sure the package is closed tightly; exposing unused bands to sunlight renders them worthless.
