On June 29, with my car hood up on Brandon Boulevard at Gornto Lake in the Outback Steakhouse parking lot, I was waiting for roadside assistance when a man in a well-kept Tahoe stopped to ensure I was OK.
Later, another man and his wife did the same.
Their acts of kindness relieved the sting from the inconvenience of a dead battery. They epitomized the words of John W Gardner: "Some people strengthen the society just by being the kind of people they are."
Their example brought sweetness to a frustrating situation. I regret I failed to introduce myself to them. May they help us all be a little more thankful for our piece of America.
