ST. PETERSBURG - Divers on Saturday found the submerged body of a Tampa man who was reported missing Friday on a dive 18 miles west of Anna Maria Island, the U.S. Coast Guard reported.
Crew members aboard the 22-foot Malikot told the Coast Guard they found the body of Darren Rordam, 31, who had not surfaced from Friday's dive.
Rordam was spear fishing with three friends on the Malikot and was to return to the boat after 10 a.m., the Coast Guard said. The friends called for help when he failed to show.
The Coast Guard used five vessels and aircraft to survey more than 600 square miles before ending the search Saturday, a spokesman said.
