MADEIRA BEACH - Three men fleeing from police in a stolen pickup truck crashed into a set of outside stairs leading to a door at Madeira Beach Elementary School this morning, authorities said.

Lawrence J. Bingham, 21, of 1818 20th St. S., who was driving the Dodge Ram, was charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and driving with a license suspended or revoked, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

The front-seat passenger was identified as Raymond D. Lewis, 19, no address available, who was charged with grand theft auto. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The back-seat passenger, Isaac Day Carty, 19, of 5163 First Ave. N., also was charged with grand theft auto.

At 2:07 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at 10748 63rd Ave. N., sheriff's spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda. On arrival, deputies were told the incident was an armed robbery and were given a description of the suspects' vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Ram with dual exhaust.

At 3:19 a.m., someone reported a car had been burglarized at 8813 Magnolia Court, and soon after deputies spotted a Dodge Ram near Magnolia and Starkey Road, Barreda said.

Deputies tried to stop the pickup, but it fled. The driver eventually lost control and crashed into the set of stairs at the school at 591 150th Ave., Barreda said.
