A man was robbed in his mobile home park this morning in Largo, but he gave chase, hanging onto the tailgate of the suspects' get-away vehicle before letting go, Largo police said.
The incident occurred at 2:30 a.m. at the Kings Manor Mobile Home Park, 1399 Belcher Road S., said Lt. Mike Loux.
The victim told police he was counting money on the front porch of his trailer when a white truck stopped, with someone inside asking for directions, Loux said. The victim walked up to the truck, at which point he was hit in the back of the head, Loux said.
The suspects grabbed his money and then started driving away, Loux said. The victim grabbed the tailgate in a vain attempt to stop the truck, and was dragged for some distance before he had to let go, Loux said. During his brief ride, he suffered severe road rash and some of his teeth got knocked out, Loux said.
He failed to get the license plate number, Loux said.
