TAMPA - An area of low pressure will stall over the Southeast today and continue to bring another day of ample thunderstorms, especially north of Pasco County.
The storms will begin in the morning closer to the coast and expand inland through the day. Forecasters don't expect storms to wait for the afternoon and say they could show up anytime today.
However, the National Weather Service says there's only a slim chance for a severe thunderstorm to be part of the mix. But the storms are likely to produce some heavy rain.
The weather service gives Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties a 60 percent chance for rain today and boosts that to 70 percent from Hernando County north, closer to the stalled front.
The storms are expected to drop off fairly quickly after dark and then pick up quickly in the mornings, especially along the Nature Coast.
The weather service says some of those storms could continue in a parade over areas and could lead to some flooding north of the Tampa Bay area.
