WEEKI WACHEE - A 2-year-old girl sustained a minor fracture and second-degree burns from a homemade firework during Independence Day celebrations.
The girl was watching fireworks with her family outside their home on Darlene Street when the firework dropped from the sky onto her arm. Paramedics and later a doctor at Oak Hill Hospital determined she had a minor fracture of her forearm and second-degree burns.
The remains of the firework, which was attached to a 6-foot-tall stake, was collected by a deputy.
