NEW PORT RICHEY - Mike Alstott, the former bruising Buccaneer running back, will once again serve as the honorary guest of Gulfside Regional Hospice's annual Hike for Hospice charity event for the third consecutive year.
Alstott will sign autographs, interact with participants and help to raise not only money but also awareness of the hospice during the Nov. 8 walk.
Gulfside Regional president and CEO Linda Ward said the 5K hike is the hospice's signature event. The goal is to raise at least $100,000 and host 500 walkers or more.
"We are grateful for Mike being a part of the Hike for Hospice for the third year," Ward said in a press release.
Costs to participate are $25 per adult and children 10 and under walk for free. All hikers receive a T-shirt, morning snack and beverages.
The hike's route runs through Wesley Chapel District Park and commences at 9 a.m.
Following the hike there will be a balloon release memorializing and honoring the people being walked for during the day, Ward said.
