Clearwater man charged with rape, false imprisonment

A Clearwater man is accused of raping and imprisoning a woman in his home Wednesday, public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts said.
Police received a 911 call about a sexual battery that happened at the home of 62-year-old Juan Costa, 612 S. Duncan Ave., at 2:35 p.m.
Officers made several attempts to contact Costa but were unsuccessful, Watts said. Police then received information he was still inside his home and may be armed.
A SWAT team went to Costa's home about 7:20 p.m. and had to Taser him to bring him into custody, Watts said.
Costa was charged with false imprisonment and sexual battery. He was taken to the Pinellas County Jail and is being held with bail set at $60,000.
