Where is the welcome-home ceremony being held for our troops returning from Iraq?
I remember long ago stepping off a plane from Vietnam without hearing a single thank you. All of us troops in a whole generation were left with an empty feeling, wondering if we had accomplished anything worthwhile in the eyes of our fellow citizens.
At least the U.S. Navy gets it right. I don't think any Navy ship ever returns to home port from deployment without a welcoming Navy band on the dock. But what are we doing for our soldiers and Marines who are not as fortunate to return on a Navy ship?
How do we say welcome home, you made a difference?
