TAMPA - A military refueling tanker made an emergency landing at Tampa International Airport just after departing MacDill Air Force Base this morning, officials said.
The KC-135 was on a fueling mission when the five-member crew noticed smoke coming from the cockpit, MacDill officials said.
The plane landed on TIA's east runway just before 11 a.m., airport spokeswoman Brenda Geohagan said.
No injuries were reported, and the plane was flown back to the base this afternoon. The plane will undergo maintenance there.
MacDill officials said the incident is still being investigated.
