Alonso High's C.J. Bennett will be able to concentrate on his senior season without any college recruiting distractions.
The Ravens quarterback verbally committed to the University of Wyoming on Thursday night. Bennett, who led the county in passing last season with 3,017 yards and 29 touchdowns, also had offers from Navy and Towson and interest from Connecticut, Kansas, Notre Dame and UCF.
Bennett's had a busy offseason, including a Nike clinic where he earned MVP honors and a quarterback competition at Football University that will be part of a reality television show. He also helped lead his Ravens team to a victory at UCF's 7-on-7 tournament where Alonso scored on every single offensive drive.
The Ravens will be one of 18 Hillsborough County schools participating in the USF Sling & Shoot 7-on-7 tournament this weekend.
