HAINES CITY - A Polk County funeral home director charged with dumping human remains will remain in jail for now.
Circuit Judge Angela Cowden denied Claude Edward Holmes Jr.'s request Thursday for bond on a charge that he violated probation. Before his arrest last month, the 47-year-old Holmes was on probation for misdemeanor resisting an officer without violence.
A maintenance worker at the Oakland Cemetery in central Florida discovered a suspicious bag partially buried between two graves in June. Authorities said they found decomposing human organs inside the bag.
An investigation led deputies back to Holmes. According to the sheriff's office, Holmes admitted to burying remains at the cemetery 10 to 15 times since 2000.
