RIVERVIEW - A pair of fishermen overshot the Williams Boat Ramp along the Alafia River on Thursday night, submerging the pickup they were using to launch and retrieve their boat.
Witnesses who stopped at around 7:30 p.m., including a United Parcel Service driver, tried to help but the truck was too far submerged and it lacked places to attach tow ropes.
So a few people started snapping pictures.
One of the fishermen remained in the boat while the other worked the phone for help back on shore, thanking those who had tried to come to his aid.
How the story ended wasn't immediately clear.
The boat ramp, at 9425 US 41 S., isn't staffed by the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department and a county crew hadn't made its rounds there yet this morning.
