Motorcycles and seat belts

It is my choice to wear my seat belt, and I have worn it since the early 1980s; however, I cannot believe a law was passed for this. Someone please explain to me why someone in a car must wear a seat belt or be fined, but I can get on a motorcycle without a helmet, and that's OK?

I will never understand the lawmakers of Florida.
