Manatee deputies: Early morning meeting ends in beating

Manatee County Sheriff's Office deputies say a man who went to a home with a woman he met in Bradenton early this morning got more than he bargained for.

Victor A. Amaya, 22, and a friend met a woman and were invited to a house on 905 35th Ave. W. "to get some play," according to deputies.

According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report:

Amaya got a bad feeling about being there, but his friend – not named in the report – wanted to stay. So Amaya called his girlfriend, also not named.

But before she could arrive, Amaya was approached by three men, who began hitting him until he fell to the ground. Amaya said one of the men reached into his pocket and took his wallet and cell phone.

Amaya was taken to an area hospital.

His injuries are not serious.
