Shrimper tells Pasco deputy of relationship with minor

NEW PORT RICHEY - A 22-year-old shrimper told a Pasco County deputy he was dating a 14-year-old girl.
The deputy was at the home of Carlton Gossett Jr. investigating an unrelated incident, and the shrimper "happily, spontaneously advised he and the 14-year-old victim are having a sexual relationship," the deputy wrote in Gossett's arrest affidavit.
The age of consent in Florida is 16.
Gossett, according to the affidavit, said he and the girl had been dating for a week, lived together and had sex numerous times.
according to the report, the couple thought their relationship was all right because her mother gave it her blessing.
Gossett, of 9206 Ogalala St., Griffin Park, was arrested Thursday on a felony charge of lewd and lascivious battery. He is being held at Land O' Lakes Jail. Bail was set at $10,000.
The deputy noted Gossett was "very cooperative" during his arrest.
