PLANT CITY - A multiple shooting that left five men injured remains under investigation, with lingering questions and little information from the victims or public.
At least five men were playing cards in an open garage at 1202 E. Ohio St. when two or more suspects arrived in the driveway and started shooting, Plant City Police Capt. Susan Pruet said.
Police were called to the scene at 12:15 a.m. today. Four of the victims suffered gunshot wounds, two of whom required surgery. The fifth victim suffered unspecified injuries.
"It is unknown how many of the suspects or victims fired weapons during the incident," Pruet said. "The victims who were questioned by police have not offered much in the way of useful information.
"We are not sure who was shooting at who, but there were spent cartridges everywhere, inside and outside the garage," she said.
Pruet said the investigation is stymied by a lack of information.
"Someone saw what happened," she said. "We need their help."
Crime scene investigators from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office examined the scene for evidence.
According to public records, the home is owned by Derrell C. and Vickie J. Roll.
"People are afraid right now because the suspects remain at large," police Sgt. Sherrie Stwan said. "We need more information from the public."
Anyone with information on the shooting should call police at (813) 757-9200.
