KENNETH CITY - A man in his 40s was struck and killed by a Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority bus this afternoon, fire officials say.
The man appeared to jump in front of the bus as it headed south on 49th Street, between 54th and 55th avenues, said Bob Lasher, a PSTA spokesman. Investigators are looking at whether the man was attempting suicide.
The bus driver and the roughly 12 passengers were not injured, Lasher said. The passengers were transferred to another bus.
Capt. Larry Thompson of the Lealman Fire District said authorities received the call of the accident about 1:05 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
