TAMPA - Wesley Chapel offensive lineman Kamran Joyer, who signed with the University of South Florida but then asked for his release because he was unsure whether he would be accepted into USF, will visit Louisville on Wednesday.
Jack Joyer, Kamran's father, said if his son "likes it, he'll sign there [Wednesday]. I'd say it's probably 99 percent," Jack Joyer added. "He wants to make sure he likes the coaches and they like him."
If Kamran Joyer doesn't sign with Louisville on Wednesday, he is scheduled to visit Rutgers on Friday. He also has a scholarship offer from Rutgers, Jack Joyer said. If neither Big East school works out, Joyer would consider Tennessee or Nebraska, although he currently has no scholarship offers to either school.
After getting his release last month from USF, Joyer's father said his son received scholarship offers from Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Troy and Georgia Southern.
He's intrigued by Louisville because the Cardinals just produced center Eric Wood, a first-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.
The reason Joyer wanted his release from his USF letter-of-intent, his father said, was because he had initially been denied admission into USF by the school's academic committee, even though he had met NCAA qualifying standards. Then USF officials told him his son could take two courses at Hillsborough Community College and try to receive approval from the committee in mid-August, but there was no guarantee he would be admitted.
Joyer didn't want take a chance not getting accepted into USF, so he opted to get his release.
