Innisbrook to announce LPGA legends event

PALM HARBOR - Innisbrook Golf Resort has scheduled a news conference Thursday to announce a new event this fall featuring several LPGA legends, including Hall of Fame player Nancy Lopez.

Resort owner Sheila Johnson will be in attendance and there's a chance retired Navy Rear Adm. Marsha Evans, the LPGA's newly named interim commissioner, also will be on hand for the announcement.

Lopez, the captain of the U.S. junior Solheim Cup team, has been mentioned as a potential successor to Carolyn Bivens, who resigned Monday under pressure as commissioner of the struggling LPGA.
