Body found in Lake Maggiore in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG - The body of a woman turned up in Lake Maggiore this morning, about five feet from shore, according to St. Petersburg fire officials.

Authorities received a report about the corpse at about 9:51 a.m., said Lt. Joel Granata of St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue. The body was found in the vicinity of 2741 20th St. S., he said.

The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating.
