CRYSTAL RIVER - A late rally fell short Thursday night as the Greater Hudson Junior Baseball All Stars lost 9-7 to West Hernando in the District 15 title game.
West Hernando will advance to a sectional tournament in the Tampa area July 24.
It was the only loss for Greater Hudson, which finished with a 4-1 record in the Little League District 15 Tournament at Bicentennial Park.
Hudson's Andrew Meyer hit a two-run double in the sixth inning to cut the West Hernando advantage to 9-5.
In the seventh inning, Peter Burk and Mitchell Campbell hit RBI singles to bring the score to 9-7.
West Hernando relief pitcher David Peter stopped Hudson with the bases loaded to earn the save. He recorded a strikeout and induced Myer to pop up to second base to end the game.
West Hernando starting pitcher Mike Miara was the winning pitcher, while Hudson's Tyler Deliberti got the loss.
Hudson's Justin Spurlock was 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Campbell was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
"It was a disappointing loss but a great game," said Hudson manager Rick Hampshire. "This was our first loss. We have a great team here. They are all unselfish. The kids get along great. We have a lot of talent. We just didn't play that well tonight."

Hudson 5, Central Citrus 4
Those with little patience needed to avoid the Hudson-Central Citrus Major Baseball All-Stars game in Little League District 15 Sunday afternoon. Including two hours for a rain break, the game managed to last six hours and 37 minutes.
Joey Aldrich singled in Chaz Whitaker with the winning run as Hudson nipped Central Citrus, 5-4, in eight innings.
"I'm shaking," said Hudson manager Ronnie Aldrich. "The excitement is overwhelming. I can't be any prouder of this team than I am. Everyone contributed."
Hudson hurler Charlie Simmons was the winning pitcher.
July 14
Juniors (13-14) Baseball
Greater Hudson 5, Inverness 3
It was no fluke that Sean Fluke was the winning pitcher for Hudson. He allowed four hits, struck out four and walked two to take the victory. Ryan Mettler picked up the save in relief.
Inverness scored on a two-run throwing error and scored all of their runs in the seventh inning. Hudson had six hits.
Justin Spurlock doubled and scored.
"In the seventh inning, they (Inverness) were coming back," said Hudson manager Rick Hampshire. "It's a win but we are a lot better than we are showing."
Majors (11 and 12) Baseball
Crystal River 10, Greater Hudson 3
Hudson's Tyler Strouse was 2-for-3 with an RBI, but Hudson couldn't hold Crystal River, who won the Little League District 15 title.
Crystal River's Kyle Kidd had a two-run single, while Hudson had four hits. Hudson was 3-2, finishing as district runner-up. Both of the losses were to the Citrus County team.
"Nobody quit," said Hudson manager Ronnie Aldrich. "That's pride. I'm very proud of them."
July 13
Major Baseball
Greater Hudson 13, Dixie County 1, four innings
Andrew Yelapi tossed a one-hitter, struck out nine and walked no one in a 13-1 Hudson Major All-Stars victory over Dixie County. The semifinal win advanced Hudson to the District 15 title game Tuesday night.
Cody Manon and Charlie Simmens both scored three runs.
Zack Walker and Yelapi both doubled. Hudson had 15 hits.
"I can't say much about [Yelapi] except that he came out here with a mission," said Shady Hills coach Ron Aldrich. "He achieved that mission. We saw their lineup once. It was almost a perfect game. No walks. Everybody hit at the plate. The boys hit the ball hard."
Crystal River 9, Shady Hills 1
Crystal River's Daylon Rogers jacked a two-run home run and doubled. Crystal River hurler Derrick Rogers was the winning pitcher. Shady Hills' pitcher Eric Correa Jr. was the losing pitcher.
Crystal River had 23 hits and five walks. Shady Hills had 15 hits. Shady Hills lost in the semifinal game to finish 2-2.
"We just hit it right at them," said Shady Hills coach Tom Dornseif. "We couldn't find any holes. The kids are great. They are a good team. Three weeks of hard work and it paid off. We took fourth place out of nine teams, You have to look at it that way."
July 12
Junior Baseball
Hudson 9, Central Citrus/Shady Hills 0
Central Citrus had two hits. Tyler Burgan was the starting and losing pitcher. For Hudson, Ryan Mettler was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI and a run. R. J. Hampshire won the game in relief.
Hudson 12, Lady Lake 0
Hudson's Andrew Meyer was the winning pitcher and added a two-run double. Sean Fluke had an RBI single. Ryan Mettler stole home in the seventh inning.
Hudson had eight hits and swept the second game of a rain-forced doubleheader.
10 and 11 Baseball
Inverness 15, Hudson 10
Kyle Hagland had a three-run triple, but ended up the losing pitcher.
Majors (11 and 12) Baseball
Shady Hills 8, Inverness 4
Christien Thomas was the winning pitcher. He also had two hits. Zach Witfoth had three hits, while Jonah Izquierdo had four. Eric Correa Jr. had two runs.
Shady Hills had 13 hits and collected seven walks, scoring five runs in the first inning. Inverness had 11 hits.
July 11
Junior (13 and 14) Baseball
Crystal River 14, Shady Hills/Central Citrus 4
Cody Anderson scored a run for Central Citrus/Shady Hills. Ryan Holmes doubled. The combined team had 11 hits.
Shortstop Tyler Burgan made an outstanding play, throwing out a runner at home. Burgan was three-for-four batting. Kyle Herron stole two bases. Pitcher Nick Iaciofana was the starting and losing pitcher.
The team is now 0-2.
Major (11 and 12) Baseball
Dixie County 10, Shady Hills 7
Zack Witfoth had a double and scored. He had two hits in the second inning. Brandon Wells had a double and single and two RBIs. He threw out a runner on an attempted steal of third base.
Shady Hills scored seven runs in the second inning.
Shady Hills was 1-1. Witfoth was the losing pitcher. Eric Correa Jr. had a double. Dustin Long had two hits.
Shady Hills had 13 hits.
