Detectives say man killed mother, himself in New Port Richey

Pasco County sheriff's detectives say a son killed his mother, then shot himself Saturday in New Port Richey.
Called Saturday night to conduct a welfare check on a residence at 4455 Grandwood Lane, deputies found the bodies of Richard Owen, 62, and his mother, Joan Owen, 87 inside the home. Both lived at the Grandwood Lane home, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.
Richard Owen died from a gunshot wound. Officials are conducting an autopsy to determine how Joan Owen died, the sheriff's office said.
