A visitor from Philadelphia got a rude awakening this morning when the roof of his friend's apartment started leaking.
Mike Morrisey got off the couch, put a garbage can beneath the leak, and then had the ceiling fall on him, said his friend, Sean Fitzgerald.
The roof collapse happened before 9 a.m. at the Paradise Towers apartment building, 11000 62nd Ave. N. in Seminole. A hole about 6 feet long and 3 feet wide opened up above Fitzgerald's living room.
Morrisey went to the hospital to be checked out, Fitzgerald said.
A property manager at the complex said National Roofing Systems had been replacing the roof at the apartments since last Monday.
Investigators have not said what caused today's problem.
Altogether, three units of the three-story building were affected by the roof collapse. Fitzgerald, who has lived in the apartment for less than four months, said the landlord offered to relocate the residents to a beach house until the repairs are finished.
