A Tampa woman was detained at the St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport this morning and charged with violating a concealed weapons permit as she walked through a security checkpoint with a .32-caliber handgun in her purse.
Frances A. Fuller, 55, 3709 N. 36th St., has a concealed weapons permit, but the permit does not allow her to carry her gun onto airport property, according to Pinellas County sheriff's deputies who arrested Fuller shortly after 7 a.m. today.
The charge is a misdemeanor.
Deputies said Fuller had received a gate pass and was accompanying her elderly mother to the gate to board a flight. While passing through security, the gun was detected in her purse, deputies said.
Fuller was cooperative, deputies said, and told airport security she forgot the gun was inside her purse.
