ZEPHYRHILLS - A teen girl who was found unresponsive Tuesday afternoon in a Lake Bernadette subdivision swimming pool has been identified as 15-year-old Valeriya Kozynets.
Kozynets, of 5926 Button Flower Court, Zephryhills, was swimming laps at the Lake Bernadette Community Center pool, Pasco County sheriff's deputies say. She was found at the bottom of the pool about 2 p.m. and was pulled out of the water by an attendant, the sheriff's office said.
The attendant performed CPR on Kozynets and she was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Deputies say there were no signs of trauma on the body and foul play is not suspected. The medical examiner's office is determining the cause of death.
Pasco Fire Rescue officials called the sheriff's office at 2:54 p.m. Lake Bernadette is a sprawling community just west of Zephyrhills. The pool is at Ö5410 Golf Links Blvd.
