PINELLAS PARK - A woman and three large dogs were found dead Wednesday afternoon inside a house at 67th Avenue North.

The Pinellas Park Fire Department was called to the single-family home about 5 p.m. because smoke was billowing from the structure, Lt. Gary Berkheimer said.

Firefighters found the woman, who is about 60 years old, in the back of the house. The dogs were found in other parts of the home. There were no flames, only smoke, Berkheimer said.

The woman's identity has not been verified. Investigators say a relative couldn't reach the woman by phone Wednesday. The relative drove to the house and found the woman inside.

Investigators say it appears the body has been inside the house for some time. Detectives have ruled the incident a crime scene. State fire marshals, Pinellas County sheriff's deputies and an arson dog from the Lealman Fire Department are also at the home.

The Medical Examiner's Office is also responding.
