Secretary stole from church, police say

DADE CITY - A 53-year-old church secretary is accused of bilking her employer out of thousands of dollars.
Dade City police say Linda Marie Still made unauthorized credit card purchases and petty cash reimbursements to herself between Dec. 5, 2006, and Nov. 6, 2008, while working at First Presbyterian Church, 37412 Church Ave.

She stole about $5,800, police said.

Police on Thursday arrested Still, of 5815 Apollo St., Zephyrhills, on a charge of grand theft.
Church officials noticed a discrepancy when auditing church books after Still quit late last year, said Capt. David Duff said.

"She was surprised she was getting arrested," he said.

Still was in the process of being booked into the Land O' Lakes Jail late Thursday afternoon.
