TAMPA - A Tampa man was arrested Saturday in connection with a beating in June in which he allegedly used a brick to beat someone he knew unconscious, police records show.
Perry Reed, 49, of 3211 Ellicott St. E., was charged with aggravated battery with a weapon causing great bodily injury.
On June 1, in the vicinity of East 12th Avenue and North 22nd Street in Tampa, Reed took a brick and, for some unknown reason, beat a man he knew with it, arrest affidavits say.
The man slipped into unconsciousness during the assault and, after he was transported to Tampa General Hospital, required 30 to 60 stitches to close wounds to his face and head, an arrest affidavit says.
The victim knew Reed as "Wolf," the affidavit says. When Tampa police figured out who Reed was, and showed the victim a picture of him for identification purposes, the victim "with tears and screams of anger" said Reed was the person who attacked him.
Reed is being held on $15,000 bail at Orient Road Jail.
